Filming over 100 stage performances since 2005 has taught me to be flexible and to be able to adapt quickly to different venues, changes with sound and lighting, and sometimes even the weather. The show must go on! My standard setup is to film with three cameras to cover wide, medium, and close-up angles. When performers are using wireless mics, that audio along with music can be recorded directly from the venue's soundboard. If mics are not being worn, other mics can be set up close to the stage to best record performers' voices. The same camera setup can be used for filming dance recitals, martial arts, or just about any other kind of stage performance.
